WIP -- Hardwired Hinterland

New back cover for Hardwired Hinterland, rev 2.   

Still a work in progress at this time.

Added as attachment, since the link stopped working once SSL was implemented.

Oh, that's nice! Main colour and background texture actually adds to the look of it without impeding readability, which is all too rarely the case.

I'd click on the Karma thing, but I quickly realised that it doesn't show up on the mobile version of the forum, which is how I generally view it.

I kept finding Karma turned off, after each backup.  The last time I went in to turn it on I realized that what it was tracking was total up and down votes accrued by each forum member, not tracking likes per post, AND I was already seeing trolling.   I left it off.

I'd suggest losing the flame from the dragon.  I wasn't sure at first if it was the plane engine on fire or firing some kind of weapon at the dragon.  Just buzzing close to a dragon is exciting enough, the danger is very real even if it isn't breathing fire at the moment. 

The Bi-plane version, yeah, way too busy.

Sorry I dropped out for so long.  There was some controversy over the artist for the new Savage Worlds B13 setting up a Patreon page, and I started to look into maybe doing the same thing... but the massive delays getting Portals IV out have left me very wary of not having a thing in hand when I ask for money.  Then the holidays and a series of family emergencies hit.  So I waffled and stopped posting while I didn't make up my mind.

Anyway HH 2nd Edition is twenty pages from done.

I was hoping to surprise you for Christmas... but failed. These remaining pages are partly things like the TOC and Index, but half are tricky new content.  When those are done, I will send it out for proofreading and content editing.

Another New Environ and scenario put to bed.  Seaside.

Maybe new front cover.  The artist we hired doesn't seem interested in getting any sketches in, so I tried my hand.  What do you think?  I kept enough of the original cover to try to keep the look and feel.

Bi-planes in bottles battle giant crabs.  While the cover is striking, I'm not sure what the real perspective is.  My reaction would be to read the back cover and try and understand what I'm looking at. 

If a cover is there to attract attention, then I think what you have works.  The back cover is going to be important though to get me from curious to 'I need this'. 

On a small screen at first glance the crab looked rather like a disembodied arm and hand, which was certainly confusing. I think that area with the sun, crab and aeroplane is a little cramped and busy. Personally I don't think the crab is necessary, as it adds complexity to the picture without additional meaning and the picture looks good without it.

The bottle gives a nice feeling of being a castaway. I think that HH works particularly well with a sort of weathered finish, like the paint on an old beach hut, making it clear that this is not your usual shiny SF or fantasy, so perhaps some careful muting of the colours might help to blend the different elements of the picture together.
