I was thinking the thread title could also apply to the maps made for various alternate worlds. At first glance you recognize the locations, but as you look closer the differences start to appear. For example (I'm still learning to use the Other World Mapping software I bought a few months back) here is a real world location I recreated for an alternate; Plymouth, Massachusetts.
