So it looks like the space around Fomalhaut is even more complex than we thought. It's a young star, only 400 MY old, any planets would be undergoing bombardment from the various asteroids littering the system.

It's surrounded by six debris disks, some with sharp boundaries, implying that there is a large body shepherding the material. So maybe 4 or 5 planets around it? But none of them would even be remotely habitable, so no planet side colonies. We'll have to wait to see of JWST gets more data on what's there around Fomalhaut.
