Starting over. We are kid friendly.
« on: May 07, 2018, 11:34:55 PM »
The forums were kludged since 2014 when we changed hosting.  A recent update broke the kludge beyond fixing.  So sign back up and we'll get things tricked back out ASAP.

Be careful following links until we get protection back up.  I've already had to ban a porno peddler.

UPDATE:  Looks like anti-spambot settings are working.  Thanks for feedback, guys.

Had to recreate my account. Any chance that anything is recoverable from a different backup?

A fresh coat of paint and I hardly recognise the old place   :D

It took me more than half a dozen tries to get through the registration process, though. My eyes mustn't be what they once were.

Checked the Waybackmachine on Archive.org and the last bot crawl of the forums was in 2016. So just about all the old posts are lost. Sigh.

Its like yanking off a band-aid. It hurts now, but the restart will actually be good in the long run.

Is the sign up process too hard?

I can scale back the CAPTCHA settings if I can get better questions to ask to keep out spammers.  But I really don't want to boot a dozen porn peddlers every day.

The captcha needs to be larger scale, my issue when I was attempting to pass it was the image was too tiny on my ipad screen even when i tried to enlarge that section of my screen.

Captcha was very hard to read.  I did get it (lucky guess on the final letter) after requesting a new one about 8 times before I found one readable enough.

OK, I dropped the difficulty of the CAPTCHA to medium.  I don't have the option to make it larger.

New people will need to answer 3 questions to make up for the drop in security.

The CAPTCHA wasn't too hard but I had to take the "test" twice to pass.  :( Just a little brain fart, nothing serious.

I understand the spammer issue. Hopefully this is a good balance.
