Exploring worlds based upon Greek mythology

Postby Dances with Ponies » Sat Jan 02, 2016 9:22 am

What about a podcast about exploring alien worlds where the humans, mythical creatures, and Gods of Greek mythology are real? Some of these worlds could have Iron Age science and technology, whiles others could have science and technology more advanced than Earth Prime.

Not a bad idea, since the Greek mythology is the one of the top three most known, if only via pop culture (the others being Norse and Egyptian).

A Greek world where Greek physics operate, and the planets are held in celestial spheres. Some Greek philosophers posited that their may be plants, animals, and people living on heavenly bodies. Of course their solar system consists of visible to the eye worlds, Mercury, Venus, The Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, so there are your locations for the system portals. Each a world that can host life. None were mentioned to have their own satellites, so on this world, none exist. But the stars... They may be more crystal spheres floating in the firmament, with their own gods and life forms. Something binds them all together, and perhaps that something can be traversed.

And Greeks knew that the Earth was round, they figured that out 5th Century BC and worked out the circumference in 240 BC to within 2%.
