It stands for Hyper Faster Than Light. All spacefaring cultures have normal FTL. The Ardana Nuu has both FTL and HFTL. HFTL uses the preprogrammed nav cubes to travel faster than ordinary FTL. Only HFTL can use the Black, White, and Green galactic FTL cubes.
Shame I missed April 1st, I would have suggested hilariously faster than light. Bloater Drive, Plaid Shifting Warp Drive, or destroying the universe and rebuilding it with you in the new location.
The worse concept I remember from old-time SciFi was Folding Space. That is, you literally folded the space between two points to reduce the distance. So instead of Alpha Centauri being 4.3 ly away, you make only couple of miles away... with all that implies...
