How many Anshani ships are there?

Postby kedamono » Tue Nov 09, 2010 8:12 pm

So how many abandoned Anshani ships are out there? A dozen? A hundred? We really don't know. At the height of the Costopnor Consortium, there were 23 Anshani ships in service. At its height, the Consortium had over 700 worlds in its control. But if you look at this map of the galaxy, you could probably put your thumb over the entire Consortium:

There are thousands of habitable worlds (by humans and galactics) in the Milky Way Galaxy, and tens of thousands more in the other two galaxies of the Anshani Commonwealth. There are probably thousands of Anshani ships out there, some that can travel between the galaxies. These ships were in use during the entirety of the Anshani Commonwealth, which means they are probably a billion years old. Yes, that's right, a billion years old. So chances are that other races might have an Anshani ship or two. And the Constopnor are only a local threat, there are other empires out there, and they may take an interest in the Ardanna Nuu as well.

I wouldn't specify,  but I'd set a personal maximum of three encounters of previously unknown Anshani ships in my camapign - for the whole thing to keep them rare

I agree, unknown Anshani ships should be rare. Known Anshani ships will be dangerous. Remember, they can make you happy and sing!

Control is one thing  la ving intact devices is another.

When did they exit the scene?

Thanks Trav!

Now, which four galaxies? There are 30 galaxies in our local group. Andromeda would definitely be one of them, but beyond that, what others did they travel to?

The Local Group

The Triagulum Galaxy would be one, but after that one, I'm unsure as to the fourth member of the Anshani Commonwealth.

Just after homo sapiens evolved. So about a 100,000 to 150,000 years ago.

I'd say the Pegasus galaxy, but I'd be ducking getting slapped LOL.

Actually, it could be any.  Yes, the two others John mentioned are relatively close, but why would the third be?  If the space between galaxies can be traversed in about 4 days, the third galaxy the Anshani had under their control could be anywhere.  But to keep in the general group, probably one of the NGC galaxies.

Oh, I just googled it. I had a different one, but it got blocked. This one was the work of a few seconds of googling on "milky way galaxy".

I think that, since it would be figured that a trans-galactic cube reader was relegated to a mythical artifact, even among Anshani tech-hunters, Rich never deemed what other 3 galaxies would have Anshani relics in them.

As for the fourth galaxy in the Anshani "Empire", I'd propose the Large Magellanic Cloud. Who knows, somewhere out there, there is an Anshani shipyard stacked with ships, but it's around a small dwarf star mainly because the star will last for 10 trillion years, so it's a good place to put things.
