An exercise in Imagination - Initial encounters

Before our campaign officially started I requested an encounter story from each player, giving them the chance to show off their imagination and writing skills. I requested that beyond a typical background for their character each describe the encounter with the phenomenon that put them on the burea...

Re: Training Center in Bangor, Maine

It won't be done in one night. I have it broken down into two sessions in my notes unless players are very fast at doing all I expect to get done at Bangor Maine. Thing is I know I will have much more prepared than I will be running simply because I am setting this up as a mini country of its own wi...

Re: Training Center in Bangor, Maine

This weekend we finally get going and my group gets to discover the wonders of the training facility. I will be posting things after my group has seen them - mostly because I have noticed that some have accounts on this forum and others just lurk and I do not want to ruin the surprises ;)  I ha...

Re: Post an ALT

Ok that world would give me nightmares, I drink an organic coffee blend from costa rica that is high in caffeine. Having it be prohibitively expensive would make me sad. Right now because we buy it in 10 pound bags of beans it is about the same cost as buying normal coffee in the store. Between my c...

Re: Piranakeets

I could see people trying to catch and cage these birds to take on new worlds in case of mellor. I know we could have used them on the world we wandered into this past weekend, silly medium sized mellor made life a bit difficult for us  there :(

Re: Playing a game via skype - how difficult?

I would like to test this out but I also am super busy the month of August pretty much every weekend :( So please let me know when in September you have an opening and by then I will have a web cam and microphone setup.

I haven't bought a web cam yet, I have never needed to have one.

Playing a game via skype - how difficult?

I may be moving away from where my gaming group plays to the point it would be way to far to drive for a game on Saturdays. But I would like to stay with the group to help keep in touch with my friends. Before I make the suggestion to them, I would like some input on how difficult it is for a game t...

Re: The Dinoaur Tree

I love the idea of the dinosaur tree :) I always wanted a brontosaurus as a pet when I was a kid, was sad when I was told they were extinct. Now for the raptors and T-Rex variety I could live without, those would be the ones I would destroy before the fruit grew to full growth, as soon as I matched ...

Re: Sharks

Ah good, more nightmares for ocean swimmers to have ;}  I look at sharks in local zoo aquariums and at sea world and think to myself "boy am I glad they can't get out of that tank", the idea of them having the ability to not only leave the water, but to be able to use weapons is freaky. Pretty ...

Re: avid podcast listener

I have suggested that she run a side trip to town and just let us mess around with townies for a bit til she sorts out her story arc but she is less than enthusiastic about us visiting her town before finishing the place we are at (not really near a town). She has the beginning and end fine but we s...

Re: avid podcast listener

Have you ever done an episode on Writer's Block? Since most GMs do their own scenario writing, giving some tips on how to work around it and not resort to premade modules would be great. One of my GMs is having issues with it right now, I think she wrote herself into a corner on what she has been ha...

Re: insanity podcast

Additional comment. One of the people I play games with is OCD, every die has to be set just so in front of him and if they get bumped during the game by anyone, he spends as much time as he needs to get them all back in the correct positioning. He also adjusts them after each and every roll he has ...

Re: Node C-5 "Chicago Fire"

In one of the episodes it shows facial recognition software being used so yes it has it and it was going through drivers licenses as well as police data bases.

And yes a lot about the show is creepy, makes you wonder how close the government is to getting something like it.

Re: Node C-5 "Chicago Fire"

Person of Interest has a machine that sees everything that every security cam, every wireless net, every piece of electronic equipment that broadcasts anything can see. It sorts it and determines if there are threats to someone's life.  "You are being watched. The government has a secret system...
