Re: Changes on the way!

I think the forums would work better with fewer subcategories. Some of them haven't seen any significant traffic and it gives a sense of clutter and little activity. Stripping back to a leaner list might help to make it all seem a bit less empty.

Haven't started it yet. A few personal upheavals and some changes in our gaming group meant that we've been running Pendragon and CoC recently. It's still on my list.

Re: Prime directive episode

I'm inclined to agree with arromdee. Precisely matching local dress makes sense if going undercover and trying to deliberately blend in for a lengthy period, but otherwise it not only seems like excessive effort it's also likely to remove a great source of potential fun from an adventure.

Re: Trying a different system

Thank you. We actually are recording! I was persuaded to stick with it by my players, one of whom took over the actual recording duties.

The new Whartson Hall forum, as we're no longer associated with the previous site.

Trying a different system

My run of Fringeworthy using the first part of Rogue 417 went well, the only problem being convincing everyone that the system is worth persevering with. To sidestep that problem I'm hoping to get back to the game but using a different set of rules, most likely Mercenaries, Spies & Private Eyes ...

Pipe cleaner aliens?

Over on Twitter Stefan Jones mentioned this: At a long-ago convention, Tri-Tac table had colored pipe-cleaner figures of FTL and Fringeworthy aliens. It was the cutest damn thing. I wish I had a camera. Or that the Tri-Tac folks would show them off. Ring any bells? Are there any surviving photograph...

Is there any news about upcoming products? A spruced-up version of Duck Trooper perhaps?

Re: New old edition

Looks like the binder is indeed upside down. I'd never have noticed had you not pointed that out :D Doesn't seem to affect its operation, anyway, and the plastic rings are in surprisingly good shape.

New old edition

Snagged a copy of the first edition on eBay. Condition isn't bad, bit of foxing on the end pages but the binder is intact and most of the rest is clean and crisp. Might get the PDF version so I can print a couple of replacement pages. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee147/BigJackBrass/Mobile%20Up...

Re: Fringeworthy game shield segment?

We played quite a bit of Savage Worlds, from the first edition onwards, but I'm afraid that everyone got rather burnt out on the system. Now that the group is restricted to online play we've stopped playing Savage Worlds entirely: with the cards for initiative, tokens for bennies and so forth we fou...

Re: Fringeworthy game shield segment?

Oh, I've used the original rules before, albeit without the full panoply of combat options, and they worked pretty well for my group. I'm tinkering with making step-by-step checklists to speed things up for the players and make it easier to follow the various character options etc. Right now there's...

Re: The RPG Fiction Blog

It's true that the site is brand new - only launched this week, indeed - but Sarah's connections and previous work, both in fiction and gaming, suggest to me that it could well expand rapidly. She currently produces a lot of stuff for Modiphius, for instance, and it's more than simply an enthusiasti...

Re: Fringeworthy game shield segment?

Thanks for the quick reply. I do have the support files from an old CD-ROM (Bureau 13, I think) but wondered if the shield segment mentioned in Portals was the central section of the GM screen that was supposed to be tailored to each game. That always seemed like a great idea to me, but I've never s...

The RPG Fiction Blog

I know that many Tri Tac fans are also keen writers. With that in mind, a new blog might be of interest: http://rpgfictionblog.com/ It's run by Sarah Newton, who you may already know from products such as Mindjammer, and is now accepting submissions. Bearing in mind considerations of intellectual pr...
