What are the world dynamics? Such as is the terrain dimensionally stable? Do parts flicker in and out of realities. Are there gates that stable? Are there gates that can be used by characters without a lot of political Terpsichore. Such as going "fishing" for someone who controls the gate.

Does this world have gates that lead to Hardwired Hinterland and Fringeworthy?

Is this like a cyberpunks world only with magic and elves in control? Is it all controlled by a one world government? Are there safe zones where characters can live and do business?

This is what I would like to know.

Richard has the flu.  I will tell you what I think I know.

Many worlds or planes or whatever have a lot more available magical energy than the one we know.  It is usually possible for magicians to travel between worlds without a whole lot of hooha.

Some noble elves got tired of the riffraff from the wild magic planes, and other unsavories.  They decided to seal off their borders.  To do this they drained off most of the magic from OUR home plane and used it to make a bottleneck they could use to control access.

But shut off in the Mundane Zone, we evolved and developed technology that could not exist in the presence of magic.  Eventually we popped the bottleneck while trying to do something techy.  Cold fusion, CERN -- won't spoil it by telling you what.  But magic rushed back in in a destructive flood.  Bits of other worlds were washed in with it.  Bits of our world blew out into the Whatever, some of it even ending up in Fringespace.  Patches of earth have been replaced by surreal zones or mythic landscapes.  There are safe zones where the lights are still on and people are trying to set up local governance, but in large swaths of what's left technology works erratically if at all.

Aftershocks are still happening, with a distinct possibility of setting off a new wave of troubles.  The elves HATE what we did with ourselves while they weren't looking.  They are attempting to put the cork back in the bottle, without concern for the damage done to scattered humanity or the displaced wild fay who will die if cut off from magic.  So heros would run into humans (and human local governments) working for the elves to put things back the way they were.  Others could meet talking animals or other mythicals and get the option of joining the Woodland Resistance.  There would also be off-Mundus places outside of the arcanastrophe where trade and co-mingling (Cantana scenes!) would be possible.  And there is an Enemy, of course.  Which I won't go into here.

So... You saw the prototype with the racoon magician?  If you want to do art, it would need to be a combination of mundane and fantastic.

So, I can see a group of adventurers that includes a soldier in camo, a cowboy or mountie or NY cop with a horse standing by a centaur holding a rifle with his other arm around the skittish horse to calm it.  There might be one or two more humans in modern hiking clothes and a talking, clothed racoon or two and a 'normal' dog or cat.  A tinkerbell pixie or a kami or a Slarg.  If you were able to adventure with creatures out of myth and legend, who would you want at your back?

They are standing on a street that is cleanly sheared away a few feet in front of them.  Behind them you see  a drug store that has one wall and a corner of it's sign neatly cut off.  The window has been broken and the door jimmied.  Maybe you see a telephone pole or enough else to tell that this is a displaced small town.  In front of them is landscape from elsewhere, or maybe two or three elsewheres.  An OZ type alien city in the distance.  A gas station from the '50s -- but off somehow.  A tessaract in a sky that is itself patchworky.  Stonehenge.  But the characters are looking at the flying dragon.  That is heading in their direction and doesn't look friendly.

Mundus can also be looked at as existing in a 'malfunctioning' section of the Fringepaths.  (The elves had blocked the Tehrmelern, too.)

Big orky here,

That helps. I was trying to make minis, modules and artwork to submit. I just needed to know how things were set up so I don't rock the boat.

This type of extra-dimensional disaster would also most likely hit the fringe worthy gates as well.

As for talking animals depends what it is. And I want a human at my back. I may have to cook the animal if things get bad.

So the land scape is unstable in some areas and you may run across something totally alien driving down the highway. Not to mention the various courts of the fey (humanoid and non humanoid).

I see a whole slew of new spells to make things work in this world.
and a new science like magic tech. Or the interfacing of magic and tech.

Richard likes this as a cover idea.  But it is WAY beyond my artistic skills. He plans to sketch a rough, but is way behind due to bad flu.  So, if you are interested, have at it.

Maybe add an elf or two?

I just sent a back ground rough to Rich. I am not sure how big a pic I can post. Otherwise I would have put it up. Still working on the characters in the description. Way out of practice.
